Safety

All clients sign and agree that they participate on the course at their own risk, after agreeing that the qualified guide has taken reasonable steps to establish as safe an environment as possible through dynamic risk assessment prior to and during the activities. Also, that they know of no personal disability or medical condition, physical or mental, which affect their ability to take part in the course.

Mountain biking, Coastal Walking and Hill Walking can be dangerous. All and any participation is undertaken at your own risk. Manx Mountain Activities will provide you with guidance in an appropriately safe working environment and provide you with a fully qualified and insured guide. Clients will not be placed under any pressure to perform skills if they do not feel comfortable in doing so.

During guided rides you have the option to walk any part of the route if you feel that it is beyond your capability.

If you choose to take part in a walk or ride Manx Mountain Activities cannot be held responsible for any loss or injury you may sustain (which includes theft of your equipment) whilst attending our guided walks or rides providing we are not directly at fault. If you are concerned regarding loss, theft or damage to your equipment and/or injury to yourself, you should consider taking out their own Personal Accident Insurance and 3rd Party Liability Insurance. Manx Mountain Activities is not responsible for securing your bike or equipment during any guided trip.

 

Changes and Cancellations

Manx Mountain Activities does not charge fees to change the dates or times of an existing reservation, provided the request is received within seventy-two (72) hours prior to the date of the tour or confirmed service.

If a date / time change is requested, Manx Mountain Activities to honor the request; However, we can not guarantee the date / time change as all requests and changes are subject to availability.

For the changes made, more than seventy-two (72) hours before the original reservation date of the tour or other service will be charged a penalty of 50% of the total payable as per original booking.

For cancellations within twenty-four (24) hours from the original booking date, a cancellation fee equal to the total cost (100%) of the service / tour of the original reservation will be applied.

Manx Mountain Activities reserves the right to cancel, modify or replace any service or tour that has been booked at any time, for reasons related to the accessibility of the tour route or extraordinary events linked to traffic (strikes, demonstrations, marches, marathons, sporting events, etc.) or to meteorological conditions (storms, floods, snow or other) or other causes; in these cases, if you are not satisfied with the alternatives offered, you are entitled to a full refund of the original purchase price.

Cancellation of a booking with Manx Mountain Activities can lead to cancellation charges applied by Manx Mountain Activities, as indicated below. When you cancel any booking you will be notified by e-mail. If you have been able to make the cancellation within a 72 hour notice period of the tour starting then a full refund will be given.

Cancellations must be communicated by e-mail to johnb@mountainactivies.im not later than 72 hours before the tour, in order to receive a full refund. All cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee of 5% of the total charged per person. No partial refund will be given for cancellations made within 24 hours of a tour. Partial refunds are not available once the tour or service has begun. Full or partial refunds are offered only at the discretion of the owner of Manx Mountain Activities.

 

Privacy

In order for us to confirm your arrangements you must provide all requested details. Necessary details vary by trip; they include but are not limited to full name, place of residency, date of birth, nationality and any pre-existing medical conditions you have which may affect your ability to complete your travel arrangements. Failure to provide requested details may result in non-refundable cancellation of your trip.

Any personal information that we collect about you may be used for any purpose associated with the operation and organisation of the tour you booked or requested information about, and to send you marketing material in relation to our events and special offers, if you opted in for such updates. This information will not be disclosed to any 3 party such as service providers or other suppliers. We will otherwise treat your details in accordance with our privacy policy, which complies with all current privacy laws, rules and best practices in use in the Isle of Man and EU, including the latest GPDR 2019.

Manx Mountain Activities may use promotional photographs and video footage from courses and trips, if you do not wish for a photograph or video of you to be used for promotional purposes you should make staff at Manx Mountain Activities aware.

 

Bad weather

Manx Mountain Activities walk and ride in all types of weather unless the walk leader considers it is unsafe to do so. We reserve the right to change the itinerary or walking routes for safety reasons in poor weather conditions. In very extreme circumstances it may be necessary to cancel an event, in which case you will receive a full refund or be able to transfer to an equivalent event. No refunds will be made if you decide not to walk due to weather conditions.

 

Parental responsibility

Children under the age of 13 are only accepted by prior agreement on our group walks.

Parents or legal guardians must accompany young people under the age of 18 and take full responsibility and supervision of them at all times.

 

Rights of admission

Manx Mountain Activities reserves the right to refuse a booking for participating in our walks, if in our reasonable opinion participation is likely to cause distress, annoyance or damage to people themselves, other participants, or to our leaders. This includes participants who fail to advise us of a medical condition or disability which prevents their full participation in the walks, and participants who we believe may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It also includes participants who in the opinion of the walk leader are not properly clothed or equipped to enjoy the walk in safety. We are not responsible for any inconvenience or costs incurred as a result.

 

Dogs and other pets

We do not accept dogs or other pets on our group walks and activities unless we have agreed to this by prior arrangement. Get in touch in advance if you wish to bring a pet.
